Privacy Policy
GymPing is built so your training data stays yours. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app and website do with data — and what they don't.
Last updated: 12 October 2026
Summary
GymPing does not collect your personal data. Everything you log stays on your iPhone. If you use GymPing Pro and turn on iCloud sync, a copy is kept in your own private iCloud account, which we cannot access. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking — in the app or on this website.
- No sign-up, no email address, no profile on our side.
- No third-party SDKs, analytics, advertising or AI services in the app.
- Payments are handled entirely by Apple.
- You can export everything for free and delete everything at any time.
Who we are
GymPing is developed and published by Amit Raj, an individual developer ("we", "us", "our"). For the purposes of data-protection law we would be the data controller for any personal data we process — although, as explained below, the app is designed so that we do not process any.

Scope of this policy
This policy covers:
- the GymPing app for iPhone, including its widgets and Live Activity (Lock Screen and Dynamic Island timer); and
- the website gymping.app.
It does not cover Apple's services (App Store, iCloud, Apple ID), which are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect, receive, store, sell, rent or share any of the following:
- contact details (name, email, phone number) — there is no account;
- identifiers (advertising ID, device ID, IP address from the app);
- usage data or analytics (which screens you open, how long you train);
- location;
- your workouts, body data, photos or any other content you create.
On the App Store this is shown as "Data Not Collected".
Data stored on your device
Everything you enter is saved in the app's private storage on your iPhone. Only you (and anyone with access to your unlocked phone) can see it.
| Category | Examples | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Workouts | Exercises, sets, weights, reps, times, distances, notes, personal records | On device; your iCloud if sync is on |
| Plans | Saved workouts, schedules, custom exercises | On device; your iCloud if sync is on |
| Body data | Body weight, body fat %, goal weight, measurements | On device; your iCloud if sync is on |
| Progress photos | Front, side and back photos, with date and note | On device, inside GymPing only; your iCloud if sync is on |
| Training profile & settings | Goal, experience, training days, equipment, units, rest timer | On device; your iCloud key-value storage if sync is on |
| Purchase status | Whether GymPing Pro is unlocked | Provided by Apple on device |
Health and fitness information
Workout and body data can be sensitive. GymPing treats it that way:
- It never leaves your device except to your own private iCloud, and only if you turn on sync.
- GymPing does not read from or write to Apple Health.
- It is never used for advertising, profiling or any automated decision-making.
- Weight suggestions, volume targets and records are calculated on your device from your own data.
Progress photos, camera and Face ID
- Photos you take or choose are stored inside GymPing — they are never added to your photo library.
- When you pick an existing photo, Apple's photo picker gives GymPing only the photo you choose, not access to your library.
- Progress photos are locked with Face ID or your passcode by default (you can turn this off). Face ID data never leaves Apple's Secure Enclave and is never available to GymPing.
- Sharing a photo only happens when you tap Share and choose where it goes.
iCloud sync (GymPing Pro)
If you have GymPing Pro and leave Sync with iCloud on, the app uses Apple's CloudKit to copy your data to the private database in your iCloud account, and your settings to iCloud key-value storage. This lets your data appear on your other devices and come back on a new one.
- The private database belongs to your Apple ID. We cannot see, read or export it.
- Storage, security and location of that data are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Turn sync off at any time in Settings → iCloud. Your data stays on the device.
Purchases
GymPing Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, payment card or billing address. Apple tells the app only whether Pro is unlocked, and whether a purchase was refunded.
Permissions the app asks for
| Permission | Used for | If you decline |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Taking progress photos | You can still choose photos from your library |
| Face ID | Locking progress photos | Your device passcode is used instead |
| Notifications | An alert when rest ends | The timer still runs on screen and on the Lock Screen |
| Live Activities | Rest timer on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island | The timer stays inside the app |
You can change these at any time in the iPhone Settings app → GymPing.
Widgets and Live Activities
To show your next workout, this week's progress or the rest timer on your Home Screen and Lock Screen, GymPing writes a small summary to storage shared only between the app and its own widgets on your device. It is never sent anywhere. Anyone who can see your Lock Screen can see what a widget or the timer displays — you can remove widgets or turn off Live Activities whenever you like.
Crash reports
The app contains no crash-reporting or analytics tools. If you have turned on Share with App Developers in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymised crash reports and usage statistics with us. These do not identify you, and you control this setting.
This website
- gymping.app uses no cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking.
- Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) for security and reliability, for a limited period.
- Some scripts and styles load from the jsDelivr CDN, which may also log standard request information.
- Remembered preferences, if any, are stored only in your own browser.
How long data is kept
Your data stays on your device until you delete it — individually, with Settings → Delete All Data, or by deleting the app. Data in your iCloud stays until you delete it in GymPing (with sync on) or manage it in your Apple ID's iCloud settings. We keep nothing, so there is nothing for us to retain.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, California law or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Because the data is on your device and in your own iCloud, you can exercise these directly:
- Access and export: Settings → Export Data creates CSV files of your workouts, body weight and measurements.
- Correct: edit any workout from History, and any entry in the app.
- Delete: Settings → Delete All Data permanently removes everything from your device and, if sync is on, from your iCloud. Your Pro purchase is kept.
If you have a question or request, email [email protected]. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Security
Your data benefits from iPhone's built-in protection: app data is encrypted when your device is locked with a passcode. iCloud data is protected by Apple, including end-to-end encryption if you turn on Advanced Data Protection. Progress photos have an additional Face ID or passcode lock in the app. No method is perfect, so keep your device passcode and Apple ID secure.
Children
GymPing is a general fitness app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.
International transfers
We do not transfer your data anywhere. If you use iCloud sync, Apple may store your data in data centres outside your country, as described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update this page and the "Last updated" date. If a change affects how your data is handled, we will also mention it in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
